Chronology of cameras Girard
Traduction de Daniel C:
The company “J.Girard et Compagnie” was the successor of “E.Girard and A Boitte”.
J. Girard released a range of miscellaneous cameras all called “Le Rêve” (The Dream), even if they were not similar.
Among this range of “Le Rêve”, detective and stereoscopic cameras also exist.
The advertisement dated 1901 is showing a camera with a thick wooden stand covered with leather and which may look like the front of a detective camera.
It is noticeable that the same advertisement is classifying this camera as a detective because it may be loaded with several 9x12 plates
This horizontal model is fitted with a shutter offering 1/60 sec as fastest exposure time.
Advertisements are made of statements to better sale the cameras, some of them are more than questionable. Try to insert this camera in one of your pocket.
The brand name “Le Rêve “ has been registered the 12th of June 1901 by J.Girard et Compagnie in Paris
